Bone health is vital in horses from the performance prospect to the broodmare or senior. It is estimated that 5% of a horse’s total bone mass is replaced or “remodeled” each year. Additionally, a horse may reach 90%+ of his/her mature height by his/her yearling year but only 74% of their total bone mineral content (BMC).
